Voicing Your Truth by Brenda Loan Baker

Maybe sometimes life is different from the pictures taken of it.

Why did you choose this topic?

Finding and using my voice again helped me rediscover myself and my confidence, and I want to share that with the world.

Why do women in the community need to hear it?

It’s important for women to hear, because we all have circumstances that make us feel small or less than. Having tools, especially using your voice and the confidence that comes from that, can shift the power away from the circumstance and place it back within your grasp.

WHMP celebrates Women’s History Month in a series of women speaking their truth, produced by WHMP News Director Denise Vozella, who leads a speaking club for women in Northampton, as part of the Speaker Sisterhood. The Speaker Sisterhood provides a community to women who want to discover, awaken, and create their voice through the art of public speaking.
